Step-by-step tutorial
Step 1
Gather your supplies together. Find a used spaghetti jar or mason jar to use for your luminary. Use decoupage glue or mix craft glue with a little bit of water.
Step 2
Cut out squares or rectangular strips from the white tissue paper. Cut hearts out of the red tissue paper. Have fun cutting bigger hearts and smaller ones.
Step 3
Dip your foam brush into the glue mixture and paint the glue directly onto the jar. Start by placing white tissue paper onto the jar. Cover the paper with more glue. Feel free to let the kids layer it on as the glue will dry clear.
Step 4
Paste the red hearts on top of the white tissue paper and place them all around the sides.
Step 5
After you are finished gluing all the tissue paper, let your luminary dry for a couple hours.
Final result!
Tie a pretty piece of baker's twine or a festive ribbon to the top of the jar. Place a battery-operated tea light inside and turn off the lights to see your luminary glow!
