Step-by-step tutorial
Step 1
To start, cut an apple into quarters; you can make four monster treats with one apple.
Step 2
Cut off the core and seeds of each apple slice.
Step 3
Cut two parallel slits from stem to base of the apple on the side with skin, and remove the portion of the apple between the slits to create a mouth for your monster.
Step 4
Coat the inside of the gap with sunflower butter.
Step 5
Slice a strawberry to use as the tongue. Depending on how thick your slices are, one strawberry can make as many as four tongues.
Step 6
Place the top of the strawberry in the gap, and rest it on the bottom edge of the gap, in the sunflower butter. To create teeth, place the top end of the sunflower seed in the sunflower butter along the inside of the gap.
Step 7
Use a dab of sunflower butter to stick the googly eyes onto the apple bites.
Done!
We made a few colorful monster treats! A few are missing because I couldn't resist eating a few while I was making them. Leave a note describing the monsters you made in the comments below! What other ingredients could you use to make cool teeth or wild hair?
