St. Patrick's Day is just around the corner, and if you're a teacher or parent looking for fun ways to celebrate with your kids, then St. Patrick's Day slime is a great idea!St. Patrick's Day Slime is a popular DIY project these days, but it’s also an educational opportunity to learn about non-newtonian fluids.Create an amazing, oozing mix of ingredients that encourages sensory play. Start mixing the slime with your hands! It might take a while for the St. Patrick's Day slime to feel like slime. Don’t worry - just be patient and keep mixing!

When your slime starts to look stringy (about 5 minutes of mixing), put it in a plastic bag, squeeze out any excess air, and let it sit for 10-15 minutes.

This simple and quick little project will bring a little magnetic decoration to your fridge, just in time for St. Patrick's Day.

Start by coloring your shamrocks. We used a group of green and yellow hues to coordinate with the shamrocks. Next, cut your magnet strips. Remove the backing and adhere to the backs of your shamrocks.

a4cf1052c063a.jpg

Next, squeeze a small amount of white glue into your bowl. ( This is V's absolute favorite part, I might add -- squeezing any tube she can get her hands on!) Next, start by crumbling up the tissue paper scraps, dipping them in the glue, placing them on your shamrock shape, and then smooshing it down. As you are doing this, fill in any extra glue spots with tissue paper crumbles.

Next, crumble, dip, place, smoosh and repeat, until the shamrock is covered enough to your liking. We only partially covered it with tissue paper because we wanted a portion of the crayon coloring exposed to offer a combination of both.

Finally, let sit and dry for about 15 minutes, then attach them to any magnetic surface. Ours got placed on our fridge, and then we counted them!

rainbow craft

Who doesn't love a rainbow? I guess it must be all the happy colors together in one place. For St Patrick's Day every year, we love to make rainbows in all sorts of ways. This one we did with watercolors and ribbon. My five-year-old thought it was meant to be hung out on our big tree for all to see!

a55856c1c5e2e.jpg

Emma gathered a few things and asked if I would cut a rainbow out of some watercolor paper. I liked where this was going and also cut a few shamrocks for her.

a70aa3c3bf58d.jpg

She painted the rainbow and shamrock cut-outs. Watercolors are our favorite way to paint. They have such a nice soft look and blend so nicely together.

When Emma was done painted we taped ribbon under each color of the rainbow and some in the center to hold the green shamrocks.

We used a pipe cleaner through the top of the rainbow to hang. It came out really beautiful and was the perfect way to celebrate St Patrick's Day.

quick craft

St. Patrick's Day is such a fun time in our house! There are leprechaun visits with homemade traps and lots of rainbows. The kids had so much fun making these festive shamrock wall hangings out of materials we already had on hand. They were just the things we needed to entice a leprechaun to visit our house!

a320481bd3290.jpg

Gather all your ingredients. We used poster board instead of construction paper to make our shamrocks sturdier and to allow for larger shamrocks. We also used leftover streamers from all our past birthday parties.

ae8245541e449.jpg

I traced and cut out a shamrock shape out of the poster board. To get the shamrock shape, I put together three leftover hearts from our Valentine's Day crafts and traced them.

aa0d05ea7bffa.jpg

To decorate the shamrocks, we cut up pieces of green streamers and scrunched them up. This was great for scissor practice for my 3-year-old since we only had to make short, simple cuts.

a145dd0bbdb9b.jpg

The kids glued the crumpled tissue paper to the shamrock. My two-year-old was very meticulous about putting his pieces all over his shamrock.

a262fd35f3d3d.jpg

While the shamrocks dried, we tore off pieces of streamers in each color of the rainbow. My two-year-old had great fun finding each color for us and naming them.

ad279fbd7864e.jpg

Once the shamrocks dried, we put a long strip of packaging tape in a circle on the back to hold the streamers.

ae1f72af19886.jpg

We taped the streamers to the back creating a rainbow. After finishing the first one, we realized that in order to make the rainbow look the right way from the front, we had to put it together backwards! (The opposite of this picture!)

aec6063a9b2d4.jpg

Once the rainbows were attached, we taped ribbon to the top and hung them on the door to decorate for St. Patrick's Day. The kids loved the rainbows and were so proud of their projects!

I think treasure hunts should happen for all occasions, and I think my children agree! This St. Patrick's Day treasure hunt was so much fun to do as a family and got us outside and moving around on a chilly March day.

a0a5b25e2aa13.jpg

We first cracked our walnuts, being very careful to keep our half-shells intact. The kids helped by eating the walnuts! After we opened them all we painted the shells gold with acrylic paint. Once dry, I sent the kids away while I filled the shells with goodies and sealed them back up with a few dots of hot glue.

a62b55ad0ee0a.jpg

Once the walnuts were full of treats and the glue was set I scattered them around the yard and called the kids out for a very fun St. Patrick's Day hunt! This has become a new tradition that my children look forward to each year.

These chips were so easy and simple to make and the kids loved them! We love when we can get festive in the kitchen!

These green spinach tortillas come in very handy around March 17th. My daughter was thrilled to help out with this fun recipe!

a5618770cd702.jpg

She used a shamrock cookie cutter to cut the tortilla and we placed our chips on a baking sheet greased with olive oil. I put them in the oven at 400 degrees and baked for about 7 minutes, just until nice and crisp.

A quick & fun little activity to turn your little one's fingerprints into little clovers to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.

a7909bff2f0d5.jpg

a048d58d62873.jpg

Start with squeezing out a small amount of finger paint onto a plate. V loved this part!

a5c88254a2457.jpg

Next, dot your child's fingerprints into clover shapes. V needed a little help with this part, so I guided her fingers and then she pressed down. An older child may not need adult help for this part.

a6364f25678b1.jpg

We then used our watercolor pencils in greens and yellows, as well as the fine tip marker, to draw in grass. Once we were finished drawing, we painted over our grass with water, blending the pencil colors with a paintbrush.

ac497ffa111d9.jpg

Once dry, I added some small line details to the clovers and grass. An older child can do this step on their own. And there you have it, your finished product -- a field of clovers!
