Step-by-step tutorial

  • Step 1

Did you know that craft foam will stick to a window with a little water? To prepare for this activity, cut shapes out of craft foam. I cut a large triangle for a tree, a rectangle for a trunk, squares for gifts, and circles for ornaments.

  • Step 2

Let your child dip a paint brush into a cup of water and "paint" a spot on the window.

  • Step 3

Then arrange and stick the craft foam on the window to create a beautiful tree! When you are done, take the pieces down and do it again and again.

  • Final result!

Although painting with water is a little messy, it is worth it. Using the paintbrush on the window is great for strengthening wrist and finger muscles that will help with writing. Want to sneak in a little learning? Talk about the colors, shapes, and sizes as your child decorates the tree.
