Oil Pastel Easter Egg Decorating

We used oil pastels on our Easter eggs and the kids were amazed at the bright beautiful eggs they made. They were a lot of fun to make and the result was stunning! Best of all this was such a simple way to do Easter egg decorating.

Step-by-step tutorial

  • Step 1

    You can use any egg dye you would like for this. I just made a simple one with 3/4 cup hot water, 2 tsp of vinegar and a few drops of food color. Very basic.

  • Step 2

    I had the kids draw right on the eggs with the oil pastels. The eggs were a little warm still and it seemed to make the color even more vibrant and bold.

  • Step 3

    They loved drawing right on the eggs and were so proud of each one they made. After making a dozen eggs Emma asked me to hard boil some more eggs!

  • Step 4

    Once we had our egg art complete they went right in our mugs full of color.

    The kids liked to keep checking until they saw their desired color.

  • Final result!

    I think these were the prettiest eggs we have ever made!
