The Golden Egg

When trying to use fewer plastic eggs for Easter, my kids and I made a few alternatives. This was for sure the biggest hit at the hunt...especially with the older cousins! A golden egg that gets exchanged for a golden dollar is always better than chocolate when you are a pre-teen!

Step-by-step tutorial

  • Step 1

These papier mache eggs are available in most craft stores around Easter. They are great for so many crafts and even for kids to use in their play kitchens. I always mean to stock up on them each year and never do.

  • Final result!

With the help of my daughter we painted the eggs gold and while still wet we sprinkled them with gold glitter. They came out really beautiful, especially when hidden in the yard on Easter. I got a golden dollar coin from the bank for each egg and told the kids to bring me their golden eggs once found. It was a lot of fun. We will be doing this one every year for sure.
