Paper Heart Chain

My kids love to decorate for the holidays. Since nothing beats the classics, we whipped up some paper heart chains using colored tissue papers that we hang all around the house to get into a festive mood.

Step-by-step tutorial

  • Step 1

Start by gathering up the supplies. We used a few shades of red tissue paper for our chains. The bigger the tissue paper, the better.

  • Step 2

Then my five-year-old created the fan fold (back and forth). We folded several sheets together at once to make it a fast and easy project.

  • Step 3

Then we folded the folded paper in half, and then cut a half-heart shape. Don't cut all the way through to the edges.

  • Step 4

Then we unfolded the tissue paper and we had some lovely little connected hearts.

  • Step 5

To make the chains longer, we taped a few together.

The kids were both thrilled to have a heart chain. They taped a few up over the windows and they liked how the light would shine through the tissue paper.
