Step-by-step tutorial

  • Step 1

    Get your kids involved in helping you make the homemade body paint. Pour 1 cup of cornstarch in a bowl. I had the kids put all of the ingredients in a big pot because it will eventually need to be heated on the stove (by an adult).

    Add 4 cups of water.

  • Step 3

    Next, put 6 tablespoons of sugar in the bowl or pot.

    Finally, add 1 teaspoon of salt. Put the pot on the stove and stir over medium to medium high heat. The mixture will thicken. Keep stirring. For us, it was the right consistency right before it started to boil. It's ready when it looks like smooth pudding.

  • Step 5

    Let the paint cool! Divide it between bowls. You will have enough for 4-6 bowls. Add 3-5 drops of food coloring to each bowl and mix.

    Make sure it has cooled down and now you are ready! You might want to grab your camera.

  • Step 7

    Paint designs on your face.

    Or cover your entire body with the paint.

    He dove right in and loved getting messy.

  • Final result!

    She was a little bit more reserved and was ready to rinse it off right away. When you are all done with the paint, just rinse it off. This was such a memorable experience!
