Materials you’ll need

• jar

• baby oil
• water
• white paint
• Alka-Seltzer tablet

Step-by-step tutorial

Step 1: Fill a jar about halfway with clear baby oil.

Step 2: In a separate container, mis up some water with a little bit of white paint. When it looks milky, it's ready to pour into the oil.

Step 3: Once the water-and-paint mixture has settled at the bottom of the jar, drop in your Alka-Seltzer tablet and watch the blizzard begin!

This project works thanks to oil-and-water science. Water is denser than oil, so the “snow” sinks to the bottom of the jar, where the bubbles created by the fizzy tablet lift the water up. Then, when the bubbles pop, the water falls back down and starts the cycle again.
