Textured Clay Luminaries

The project was fun, dynamic, and just the right amount of challenge for my kids. While the both vary in age, the project was adaptable to their skill level. They had fun doing it.

The box was filled with everything needed for the project, as well as fun extras.

I was given this as a gift for Christmas, and I loved making and designing it. The clay was easy to roll, and the entire process was so simple and straightforward! The paint had a gel-like consistency, but I think it was supposed to be like that because of the type of sponge/brush. I had no trouble getting the paint onto the ceramic. However, my sister had some trouble getting the paint on. I suggested a different technique to get it on, which I found was the best method. She was still struggling to get it on for a bit more time, partly because she didn't want to use my technique that worked and partly because one of her paints was completely dry. The dry paint was a silicone consistency. She did find that microwaving the paint made it a little better, though. Overall I would definitely recommend this product, but because of the struggle that my sister had painting it, I can't give it 5 stars.

Screen Printing

My grandson really enjoyed the screen printing and was delighted with the result.  He was a little cautious about how much paint/ink to use on the practice version but this proved helpful as he used more on his actual printing and it came out beautifully.  He is very interested  in space so chose the stars and planets design which worked very well.

Great technique and a cool way to create art. Will definitely be continuing our subscription to Doodle Crate.

There are so many ways kids can explore creativity, but I think KiwiCo is the best way to go! We had a blast with this project and look forward to more crates!

Exploring creativity

Thanks to an awesome project and my son's creative side, he has a brand new backpack that he screenprinted himself! We plan on learning more about these methods of art and want to do more!

Screen printing is a very interesting art technique and I am so excited to continue learning about it with my son!

Further learning

This kit was really cool, because screen printing looks so like only professionals could do, but it really isn't. The only thing I don't like is that it IS kinda hard to do, but other than that, it's a great kit!

This was the perfect crate to do on our relaxing weekend. The best part was being able to make her own stencil!

Loved how easy it was

This idea is good, the stencils are boring and the ink color is white. I ended up making another stencil on my cricut that was more interesting and I added color to the ink. It wasn't a bad crate, I just think weve had better.
