      Festivities: Poisson d'Avril

    1. In France, there's something fishy about April Fool's Day. It's still a day for people to play tricks on one another but instead of "April Fool's" the day is called le poisson d'Avril, "the April fish." The classic prank is to stick a paper fish on someone's back and then run away, shouting "Poisson d'Avril!"

      Animals: Camargue Horses

    1. If you're on the southeast coast of France, you might be lucky enough to see white horses running free. Camargue horses are among one of the oldest breeds in the world. Despite their relatively small size, these horses are valued for their strength and intelligence. Extra-wide hooves help them run through the surf with wonderful, wild style.

      Awesomeness: Eiffel Apartment

    1. The most exclusive apartment in Paris doesn't have a view of the Eiffel Tower — because it's in the Eiffel Tower! When Gustave Eiffel built the tower in 1889 he included a private hideaway for himself, way up at the top. The cozy quarters includes comfy furniture, lab equipment for conducting experiments, and even a grand piano! And all of it is nearly 1,000 feet (305 meters) above the ground.
