- They may look like teeny house kitties, but sand cats are champion survivalists. Their coats help them camouflage against the Sahara sands. They can go for weeks without water. And they can take down poisonous snakes with ease.

- Meet (or better yet, eat) the sfenj, a North African doughnut. They’re often flavored with orange, dipped in honey, or even served with an egg deep-fried into the doughnut hole! You can find them at Moroccan market stalls, strung together with palm leaf ribbons.
