Step-by-step tutorial

  • Step 1

My daughter sometimes rummages through the art drawers and comes up with nifty little creations that always amaze me. She directed me in this project and I love how it turned out.

  • Step 2

Emma first asked for a little help starting the cut on the plate. Once I started it, she cut around the center of the plate (with fun scissors of course!). She left a part of the center connected, and folded that part up.

  • Final result!

She used glue to add on sequins and feathers to give her hat some sparkle. Next, she asked me to pretend it was her birthday party and to sing to her. Oh, this girl! She's got quite the imagination...or maybe she was hoping I would whip up some birthday cake!
