Folded Paper Animals

Earlier in the day we had enjoyed a wander at the zoo--what fun to come home and see which of our favorites we could make!

  • Step 1

    Construction paper is the perfect weight for this craft!

  • Step 2

    Madeleine drew the giraffe, drawing the jaw and face on top of the ears, so that it could be folded...

  • Step 3

    then down the neck, and out to the legs (an 'h' shape)...

  • Step 4

    then cut it all out, and colored the spots.

  • Step 5

    We bent down the head, and she drew on the face.

  • Step 6

    One of our favorite parts of our zoo is the polar bear... we must have one! And a crocodile! With teeth!

  • Step 7

    To add more dimension to the animals, we cut slits at the top of the fold, and added in pieces: ears... eyes...and a horn for the rhino.

  • Step 8

    You could add ears this way for an elephant, or a mane for a lion!

  • Final result!

    What other fabulous creatures can be made? An elephant? Lizards? How about a camel!?!
