Glue Ghost Necklace

My kids and I love Halloween crafts--not because we love scary, spooky things, but because it's fun to turn "scary" things into adorable creatures...like these cute-as-can-be glue ghosts.

My children loved turning these guys from glue blobs to spooky necklaces that could be worn to school.

Step-by-step tutorial

  • Step 1

Grab your glue, sandwich bag, book, and some googly eyes. (If you don't have googly eyes on hand, you could always use a marker to draw eyes on once the ghost is dry.)

  • Step 2

First, put the baggie on top of the book. (This makes for easier transport later. As you'll notice from the photo, we unfortunately forgot this step.)

Then create a ghostly shape on the bag. (Younger kids may need some grownup assistance with this.) After that, fill the outline in with a layer of glue.

  • Step 3

Next add the eyes. Some silver glitter would be fun too, if you have it.

  • Step 4

This was the point I wished I had remembered to slip a book under the bag before we started the project. We got to practice some teamwork and all carried a corner of the bag into the house. I then placed the bag on a bookshelf.

  • Step 5

The glue ghosts take a good day or two to dry. I just hid them from the kids while they dried--out of sight, out of mind and no impatient little ones poking at their sticky ghosts! Once the ghosts were dried, we peeled off the ghosts and punched a hole on the top of each little guy.

  • Final result!

We added some festive purple yarn to create the perfect spooky accessory. Everywhere we went, people asked my kids what these ghosts were made of. The kids loved sharing their crafting secret!
