Step-by-step tutorial
Step 1
First, we made our container into the turkey face / body. Imagine how you want your turkey to look and cut the beak and wattle out of the paper.
Step 2
Glue these cut out pieces onto the jar. Also add the googly eyes.
Step 3
The turkey's feathers are the craft sticks. We had the kids at our meal come up with a list of Thanksgiving and fall related words. Then we wrote these words onto the ends of the craft sticks. (We happened to have colorful craft sticks. Plain ones are just fine. If you'd like to color yours, simply soak in watercolor or juice.)
Depending on the age of those playing this game, you can make the words more or less advanced.Step 4
Then, set the sticks word-side down into the container. Divide into a couple of teams and start playing.
Final result!
To play, a member of one of the teams would choose a stick. Without telling anyone what was on the stick, he/she would start drawing as his/her team guesses what is being drawn. Then, the other team would take their turn. To make things a little more exciting, you can add a time limit for each turn.
Oh - when we played, we found that we got through our original set of sticks quickly. So be ready to make more to continue the fun!
