Roll and Draw Game

Here's a fun new way to practice pre-writing skills. This game was created to introduce my two-year-old to drawing lines in a fun way, but quickly realized that my five-year-old had just as much fun with it!

Step-by-step tutorial

  • Step 1

First, I helped my kids wrap a small box in paper to make a large die.

  • Step 2

I drew a different line on each side of the die.

  • Step 3

Then we played! Both of my kids loved getting tossing this large die across the room and racing to see what they rolled. They drew a picture of whatever it is they rolled on our chalkboard.

  • Final result!

There really isn't an end to this game. We rolled five times each and switched players. Need a challenge? Try to make a design or picture with the lines you've rolled. What a fun way for kids of all ages to have fun while improving their fine motor and beginning writing skills!
