Step-by-step tutorial
Step 1
The gelatine we used for this is just plain gelatine, no sugar, color or flavorings.

Step 2
We prepared it as directed on the package. This varies a little depending on the brand you have, but basically it involves adding water--which my two-year old loved helping with.

Step 3
We placed it in the refrigerator to set.

Step 4
Once it was firm I turned it out onto a platter and added a few small bowls for the kids to mix some food color and water in.

Step 5
Using droppers they began to explore the colors with the gelatine.

Step 6
Emma loved mixing the colors right on the gelatine form.

Step 7
It was only a matter of time before she discovered the best part about gelatine.

Final result!
This activity was a great one for some outside sensory play. It was a messy one, but well worth it for the smiles it got.
