Step-by-step tutorial
Step 1
We used heavy green card stock to be sure the little snake could withstand two-year old hands! I cut the card stock into strips and rounded one side for the head and pointed the other side for the tail. Older kids can easily do this step themselves.
Step 2
Next the kids got to folding their snakes accordion style, but leaving the head and tail straight.
Step 3
My daughter added eyes and a small piece of ribbon for a tongue.
Step 4
We taped a straw to the back of the snake on each end. Popsicle sticks would probably work well too if you don't have straws around.
Done!
Our snakes were complete and fun to wiggle around and curl up (that was Emma's favorite part.) There was a lot of hissing little snake voices as they acted out a snake version of Little Red Riding Hood. I don't know where they come up with this stuff!
