Step-by-step tutorial
Step 1
Draw a cross in the middle of the paper.
Step 2
Add an L-shape in each corner.
Step 3
Add a dot inside of each L.
Step 4
Draw a curve connecting the bottom of the cross with the L one step to the right.
Step 5
Now find the two points on either side of that curve and connect them.
Step 6
Find the next set of points and connect them.
Step 7
Do the same for the next set of points.
Step 8
Keep going until you’ve connected all the way back to the top of the cross.
Tip
Instead of drawing curves, try connecting the sides with straight lines to make a square labyrinth design.
Fact
You’ve doodled a labyrinth!
By simply connecting the dots, you created a maze that leads back and forth toward the center. If you trace a path through your doodle, you’ll see that your pencil travels through every part of the maze. This kind of maze, where the path through doesn’t split into branches, is called a unicursal maze. Unicursal is a mathematical term, from the Latin “uni” meaning “one,” and “cursus” meaning “course.”
