Step-by-step tutorial
Step 1
After gathering our supplies, Maddie said she'd create the (new) sweet solution--and Trevelyn said he'd make a batch of our family's favorite recipe.

Step 2
Maddie started out with 3/4 cups of distilled water. (You can use regular water, but distilled water works better.)

Step 3
Next she added 4 tablespoons of dish soap. (Insider's tip: Supposedly, the regular--not anti-bacterial--formulas of Joy and Dawn are supposed to be the best bubble-making brands.)

Step 4
She added 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar with a pinch of cornstarch.

Step 5
Then she stirred up her mixture!

Step 6
Trevelyn went with our good ol' standby: 1 cup of distilled water, 2 tablespoons dish soap, and 1 tablespoon of glycerin.

Step 7
Testing.... testing....

Step 8
Of course, the best test is seeing whether you can make bubbles while blowing raspberries and laughing.

Final result!
And the verdict?
Maddie: "I think my solution works best!"
Trevelyn: "I think MY solution works best!"
Hm...it seems we can't reach consensus: both testers vow that their bubbly is best.
Well, you know what that means, right? It's time to launch your own scientific investigation!
