Foil Punch Ornament

This holiday season, we wanted to repurpose our extra pie tins into luminary decorations for our Christmas tree. By exploring shapes, patterns, and light, we created these ornaments that are a simple, yet unique, way to show off our holiday spirit!

  • Step 1

    Collect your materials!

  • Step 2

    We found that planning ahead a little and drawing the shape of the ornament you want on the bottom of the pie tin was helpful. Then, carefully cut the shape out.

  • Step 3

    Once the shape is cut out, lay it on the piece of cardboard. Use a pushpin to add details and patterns. The tiny holes will let light shine through and make these ornaments really twinkle!

  • Final result!

    Lastly, punch out a larger hole at the top of your star. Loop your string through and tie a knot. You are now ready to hang your shining ornaments.
