Step-by-step tutorial
Step 1
To start, I poured a puddle of blue and yellow paint into separate sections of a divided plate. (Muffin tins and clean baby food jars are two of my other favorite paint containers.) Then I helped my three-year-old paint the palms of his hands blue. He was EXTREMELY excited about this step.
Step 2
I held his wrists and carefully placed each hand onto a sheet of white card stock. I pressed on the tops of his fingers to make sure that they left a great print. Between my attempts at taking photos and my son's wiggly fingers, it took us a few tries to end up with nine obvious "candles."
Step 3
Then we did a thorough hand washing (and table washing and floor washing) before flipping the paper upside down so that we could add thumbprint flames. My son dipped his thumb in the yellow paint and began pressing it on the top of each candle.
Final result!
And voila! He created an adorable handprint menorah that instantly became a family keepsake.
