Heart-Shaped Dreamcatchers

I love Valentine's Day, but not for the candy or the gifts. I love it for the abundance of hearts displayed and love demonstrated. There can never be enough love in the world, and Valentine's Day is a reminder of that. These heart-shaped dreamcatchers are so cute and fun to make. The kids made these to put up near the windows for Valentine's Day, but I want to keep them hanging year-round.

Step-by-step tutorial

  • Step 1

We cut the floral wire into various sizes to make different sized hearts. Next, I bent the wire into the shape of a heart and wrapped the first round of yarn around the center to create a frame for the kids to follow.

  • Step 2

My daughter took over and picked out a different color of yarn to add to the heart. You have to wrap the yarn tightly around the wire (and sometimes knot it) to get it to stay. This was tricky for her and definitely required some help--but teamwork got it done!

  • Step 3

Make sure to constantly cross the various edges to create overlapping and various layers of yarn.

  • Step 4

Once the wire was all wrapped up, we tied a knot in the top and left a foot of yarn so we could tie it to something.

We loved using different colors of yarn and filling our house with even more love and crafting memories this Valentine's Day.
