Valentine Fingerprint Stencil Heart

I love it when my kids make personalized gifts--especially when they are meaningful and capture moments in time. Fingerprints are a great way to show how precious, unique and little my kids' fingers are!

Step-by-step tutorial

  • Step 1

    Gather your materials!

  • Step 2

    Cover your workspace. Fold two sheets of paper in half. One sheet will be your card and the other will be your heart stencil.

  • Step 3

    Take the sheet of paper for your heart stencil and draw half of a heart shape along the fold. Cut out the heart image.

  • Tip

    You may want to do this step for your child, as scissors can be sharp.

  • Step 4

    Tape the heart stencil (paper around the heart) to the center of your card.

  • Step 5

    Using the ink pad, have your child fingerprint the inside of the heart. Make sure you have a wet paper towel on hand to wipe off the ink. Tip: make sure some of the fingerprints overlap the edge of the stencil to help define the heart shape.

  • Final result!

    Remove the stencil paper to reveal your child's fingerprinted heart! Wait for the ink to dry before writing a special message inside.
