Roll and Color Game

Introduce your kids to everyone's favorite color fiend Roy G. Biv! (=Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Indigo Violet -- or the colors in the rainbow spectrum). This simple game makes practicing colors fun. My kids love throwing around the big homemade die!

Step-by-step tutorial

  • Step 1

First, make your die: Wrap your box in paper (if needed) and use your markers to color a circle on each side of the box.
Then, make your game boards: I made a little strip of paper for each player with colored circles on it to help keep track of which colors we had and which colors we still needed.
Gather pom-poms for each player (one pom-pom of each color). If you don't have pom-poms, you could also use blocks, erasers, cereal, or anything else you might have on hand in primary colors.

  • Step 2

Roll the die. What color did you roll? This is my kids' favorite part. There is just something so fun about rolling gigantic dice...

  • Step 3

Find the pom-pom in the color that you rolled. Put it on the game board.

You can play as a team and everyone puts the color on their game board that was rolled or you can take turns and race to be the first to collect the colors of the rainbow.Either way, this game is a guaranteed good time!
