Mini Box Houses

My kids love to play pretend. My daughter especially loves little houses for all of her creatures. This fun little craft lets them design a house and create a little rock family to play with. So artsy and fun!

  • Step 1

Here's what my kids used to create their mini houses.

  • Step 2

To design the houses, the kids first drew on their designs with pencil. (That way, they could erase and start over if they wanted to re-design anything.)

Then we put newspaper down to protect the table and the kids painted their designs. This was their favorite part; they painted the inside as well since they decided the inside needed carpet and walls.

Once the boxes were complete, we moved on to the rocks. The kids had gathered some rocks during a nature walk, and we washed and dried the stones so they were clean to paint. The kids gave their rocks clothes and faces. We stuck on googly eyes for the eyes. Then their little homes and critters were done and ready to be played with. The kids had a blast with their little box city!
