Right now, your toddler is learning some amazing sleights of hand-eye coordination. Holding crayons, grasping spoons, and stacking blocks (around three at a time!) are just the beginning.
fine motor & grasp
Time to pull out those big crayons. Because the more your toddler practices using the small muscles in their hands and wrists — whether they’re scribbling, grasping, or turning pages — the stronger their fine motor and grasping skills become.
cause and effect
Your toddler’s newest superpower? Making things happen all by themselves! As they experiment with cause and effect (Hmmm, what happens when I pull all the utensils out of the drawer? Oh! They make a big sound!), try to meet them with humor and encouragement — it does wonders to keep the learning going.
independent play

Young children still have difficulty properly identifying colors, so whether sorting blocks or socks, help by giving the words to colors: These socks are yellow. Those blocks are green.
