Air Hockey

$19.954.9

Discover the power of air! Build a balloon-powered air hockey game where the puck whizzes and whooshes along a cushion of air. Use a set of number stencils and an air pump to make spray-art scoreboards for your game. Then learn all about how engineers harness air to do work — from moving, to inflating, to applying pressure!

Why it’s awesome

  1. Click, clack, score

Balloon pucks turn any table into an air hockey table.

  2. Bank shot angles

String rails let the puck zoom and zigzag.

  3. Air experiments

    Explore the physics of friction.

Behind the design

I wanted to create an air-hockey game that you could play just about anywhere. But I couldn’t fit an air-hockey table in a box! I put air in the puck instead of the table, so you can play anywhere you are! Mason, Kiwi Crate product designer

Easy to assemble; fun to play; but balloon deflates very easily

This kit was a lot of fun for my kids to put together (5 and 9 year olds). The sticky tape that holds the balloon “puck” and the mallets together did not hold up well for extended play. I found some glue dots at the dollar store to glue them back together, which worked somewhat well. It was definitely a great kit for introducing the concepts of momentum, inertia, and friction, as well as air pressure. The puck worked surprisingly well to act like an air hockey puck! Very clever design!
