Step-by-step tutorial
Step 1
Start by gathering your supplies. We used dry erase crayons instead of markers since they don't rub off on the kids hands and arms as they color, but either would work just fine. Page protector sheets should be clear plastic. Then I let the kids choose pages from their favorite coloring books (un-colored) you could also print activity pages, or create travel bingo pages.
Step 2
We started by loading the page protectors with pages from the coloring books. We also added a blank piece of paper to serve as a blank canvas. My 5 year old liked making his own book just the way he wanted it.
Step 3
Then we loaded the pages into the 3 ring binder and added a plastic bag to the front of the book so the crayons could be easily stored. You could also store any other easy travel activities in the bag and they can use the binder as a hard surface to play on.
Step 4
Then the books were ready for use. Both kids loved coloring in their books.
Final result!
When they were done coloring and wanted to start over they simply erased the crayons with the small cloth. The pages can be replaced over time when the kids want something new.
