CD Ornament

We have a lot of old CDs around this house that needed a new life. Instead of just tossing them out we used yarn to make beautiful ornaments for our Christmas tree all the while showing the kids that trash can be treasure!

Step-by-step tutorial

  • Step 1

My daughter and I went through our yarn basket and pulled out a few of our favorites.

  • Step 2

I tied one end of a long piece of yarn to the CD and handed it off to Emma.

  • Step 3

Emma weaved it through until she reached the end and then we tied it off. We repeated this with several different colors of yarn. She loved this because she has really been wanting to learn to knit, weave or anything having to do with yarn!

  • Step 4

Once our CD was covered nicely we tied off the last piece of yarn and added a loop at the top of the CD.

These ornaments came out more beautiful than I had hoped! I think we will make a few for gifts.
