Step-by-step tutorial

  • Step 1

Gather supplies and prep area with newspapers--this one is a little messy! Blow up the balloon slightly (you don't need a large balloon for this web).

  • Step 2

Spray the balloon with a light even coat of oil. This will help the yarn from not sticking to the balloon later on.

  • Step 3

Pour glue into a large bowl. Note: You will use almost a full bottle of glue for this project. So let your kid squirt away!

  • Step 4

Gather about 50 feet (15.2 m) of yarn and toss it in the bowl of glue. You want the yarn soaked in glue, so mix the yarn a lot and make sure it is all covered.

  • Step 5

Wrap the yarn around the balloon in various directions and multiple times. The more wraps you do, the stronger it will be.

Once the balloon is covered, hang it overnight to dry.
